1.            APOLOGIES/INTRODUCTION/OPENING REMARKS

(a)        APOLOGIES:     Stephanie SIMPSON (Secretary); Anne Marie CALLAGHAN (Member); Willie BAIN, MP; Fr. David WOLSTENHOLM (Member);   Fr. Noel BARRY (Vice-Chairperson); Patricia FERGUSON MSP 

(b)        INTRODUCTION:  Chairperson wished all present a very Happy New Year and invited them to introduce themselves. 

(c )   OPENING REMARKS: Due to extreme weather conditions, resulting in burst pipes in St. Agnes Hall, venue of meeting had to be changed.  Chairperson thanked everyone for attending on such a very cold and snowy night.

2.            APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 9th December 2009:  Approved by JBD seconded by GO’D.

 

3.                MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES:   Nil.

 

4.         POLICE MATTERS:  

Police report  (2 months – no report last month):          

 9th November – 9th December 2009:   1 vandalism (undetected);  3 window cleaners charged with working without a Street Traders Licence;  breach of peace (undetected);  road traffic incident (detected);  assault (undetected);  theft of motor vehicle (Erradale St.);  2 assaults (domestic incident)(detected);  5 persons reported for drinking in backcourt 119 Knapdale St.

9th December 2009 – 13th January 2010:  1 attempted housebreaking, Hillend Road;   male assaulted by youth (hit by small piece of wood) (undetected);  Misuse of Drugs Act, male and female;  2 breach of peace (1 detected, 1 undetected);  breach of peace (domestic incident, male arrested);  3 males for drinking in public.

      “Police Surgery” will be held on Thursday 21st January 2010 between 11am-12noon at Lambhill Housing Association office, Knapdale Street, for anyone wishing to discuss police matters.   Police will advertise event around the district.

 

  1. SECRETARY’S REPORT:  SS not present.

(i)  Questionnaire re refuse collection.   Completed and returned.  All responses were positive.  

(ii)  Recycling:    Recycling area being planned for Lambhill, next to bus stop at 642 Balmore Road. Glass recycling bins (purple):  To be distributed to residents of Lambhill  Leaflets re details of collection delivered to homes.  Collection date will be same as blue bin but not at same time.  Problems for residents who stay in flats.   Secretary to write to Robert Booth re map of kerbside recycling in Lambhill.   DC communicating with Stephen Egan.

(iii)   DC      Canal Area Committee re agenda setting exercise.  DC to circulate information at next meeting.

 

6.   TASK GROUP UPDATES:

(a)   Allotments (FMcC):  Has been contacted by Patricia Ferguson MSP re  letter she sent to Brodies. Very short reply received from Brodies   “Due to client confidentiality, unable to disclose details of trustees”. Meeting felt that this was a very unsatisfactory reply.  (JMACK):  Also trying to find out information.      2 possible channels –     (i) Accumulation of rubbish in area between fencing  - does this constitute “nuisance”?    Environmental Health to investigate.   (2)  To see if police can seek a closure through courts on “anti-social behaviour”.  Possibility that this can be used provided there was proof of anti-social behaviour.    Litigation Department willing to help.

(b)   Planning permission (SS):   Nil to report.

(c ) Police liaison (LB):  LB confirmed to police that she would act as liaison person.   They exchanged       email addresses, telephone numbers, and agreed to maintain regular contact. 

(d) Litter: (Member to be appointed):   Local resident, retired policeman Jim Fairly has been approached to take on this role. Although actively involved, on a daily basis, on the uplifting of litter around the district, JF prefers not to be a named person.      (JMACK)  Additional  litter bins  have been  installed around play areas.  

(e) Youth services liaison (SS):   Lottery application:  YPF successful in winning £50,000 to be used for the good of the children in the area.   Representative from YPF to be invited to next meeting.

(f) History & Heritage (DC + DP):  

(DC)  Lambhill Stables:   As from 5th January 2010, new unit obtained - 34/36 Glentanar Pl, Balmore Industrial Estate. Telephone 336 4843.  Heritage corner in unit -   photographs will be displayed.

      (KW)   Delighted to report that Deed has been signed for Lambhill Stables    It is hoped work will be started mid February 2010 .   New staff.

(g) Community garden & Healthy walks (MN)(RL):   

(i) (MN)  Garden:  Bad weather hampering activities.

(ii (RL)  Healthy walks:  Due to  adverse weather condition, walk on Friday  8th January was cancelled.

 

  1. TREASURER’S REPORT:  Books audited by Lambhill Housing Association and posted on to City Chambers.     Cash in bank: £487.94   Petty cash:£47.89

 

7.   ANY OTHER COMPETENT BUSINESS:   Nil

 

  1. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday10th  February 2010 at 7 pm in St. Agnes Church Hall
