1.                   APOLOGIES/INTRODUCTION/OPENING REMARKS

 

a.         APOLOGIES RECEIVED FROM:  Cllr. Kieran WILD;  Anne Marie CALLAGHAN;   Gerry O’DONNELL;  Agnes GRIFFIN.

 

b.         INTRODUCTION:   The Chair welcomed all to the meeting and invited everyone present to introduce themselves.

 

c.         OPENING REMARKS:   The Chair announced that, any day now, we should hear if we have been successful in our Lottery application re Lambhill Stables.

 

2.                    APPROVAL OF MINUTES -  17th  June  2009:  Approved by  JBD.. 

 

3.                   MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES:   (See Agenda items)

  

4                     POLICE MATTERS:  18.06.09 – 17.07.09 : 16 crimes – 16 detections.                                               7 street drinkers;  1 breach of peace;  2 dog foulings;  2 vandalisms;   1 misuse of drugs; 1 road traffic offence; detection under licensing Scotland Act.

18.07.09 – 12.08.09:  16 crimes:  11 detected/5 undetected.                                                                  1 for littering; 5 street drinkers;  3 vandalisms;  3 breach of peace (2 detected);   1 fraud (undetected);  1 dog fouling;  1 misuse of drugs.  1 motor vehicle offence.    

Offensive weapon detected.

Regular  patrols of canal bank.   18/6/09 – 17/7/09 – 8 penalty tickets issued – drinking in public.

 

Stables, football pitch and allotments:  Police are aware of problems in these areas.

 

Allotments:  Police have contacted Brodies & Co., Solicitors, Edinburgh who act on behalf of Trustees of  Lambhill Allotments.   Environmental Health have also been contacted re possible use of JCB machine to demolish derelict huts to clear up property.   It is intended to claim the cost of this work from the Solicitors.    Brodies “have no issue with the demolition of huts”.   They were meeting with Trustees on 15th May and said they would report back. No response received.   Clr. Kieran Wild has been involved.   This area is a “health hazard” – overrun with vermin  – can Environmental Health take action on these grounds?     Clr. JMACK to make enquiries.   Clr  KW to be kept informed.

 

FMcC:    Has prepared petition.

 

 

 

5.            UPDATE:   

 

(a)            ALLOTMENTS:   See Item 5 – Police matters.

 

(b)            LAMBHILL STABLES:    Lengthy discussion re future use of Lambhill Stables.  Result of Lottery Application expected very soon.   Community garden  progressing well.   Stone circle installed.    First lot of planted potatoes have been unearthed.  .

 

(c )            KINGARTH HOUSE:   (JMaccK)     Future use of site: Financial restraints may cause delay.

 

6.         YOUNG POSSIL FUTURES:    (AL)    Has been running for 2 years now.    40 young people – between 5 & 18 attend regular twice-weekly sessions.  Computer classes on Mondays for residents in area.  Citizens Advice to use Sunnylaw unit.   2 full-time staff;  23 volunteers.   Links with Culture & Sport.   Working in 6 different areas in the North of Glasgow.

 

Possilpark Community Gala  Saturday 22nd August.  All welcome.

           

7.                   SECRETARY’S REPORT:    Correspondence received:

 

a)  ENQUIRE  Leaflet received :  The Scottish Advice Service for Additional support for learning..

 

b) GLASGOW REGISTER OF ELECTORS:   Letter and poster received.  All residents will receive individual forms for completion and return in order to update their details. 

     

c)         HOME HEAT HELPLINE:  Letter and poster received.  Tel: 0800 336 699.

8.                   TREASURER’S REPORT:    Bank balance £4,257.60       Cash in hand  £26.08

 

9.                   ANY OTHER COMPETENT BUSINESS:

 

(i)            Car Wash:   (Area next to St. Agnes Church)   Planning Dept. contacted.  Nil further.  Pavement has been “dug up” – apparently without permission.

 

(ii)            Walking Groups (Lambhill):   Walking Groups up and running.  Very successful.

Leaders:  RL and MN.   Commenced  24th July 2009.   Short walks weekly (Friday morning) for one hour.   Leaves from Lambhill canal bridge.   Average attendance:   8-9.

 

            (iii)      Litter bins:     More litter bins required around children’s play area.

 

            (iv)            New play area for young children:    The area designated for new play for young children has been fenced off. Funding was approved in  2009/2010 budget. It is hoped this work will be starting soon - no notification of this received.

           

            (v)            Crematorium:  It was felt that more signposts in Lambhill were required to direct people to the crematorium.   Drivers frequently stop and ask for directions.

.          

            TASK GROUPS:   Unfortunately, there was insufficient time to discuss.   This item will be placed on agenda for next meeting.
